COLLEGE
ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM
The
College Achievement Program at Myers University is a TRIO
program funded by the U.
S. Department of Education to help low-income, first-generation
and disabled Americans
enter college and successfully complete their chosen degree
program.
Essentially,
C.A.P. at Myers University is a life-skills building arm at
the University established to assist its students in developing every
area of their lives, which will help in meeting all goals, not just
professional and academic. After all, the whole person needs to be
balanced—the
greater the harmony in one’s personal life, the more successful
one will be professionally. Only ONE other component as important as balance and motivation
to get ahead exists in the success
equation—that component is focus on one’s
goals.
In order to have focus, one must first define their goals
(short- and long-term) and then develop a plan. This is exactly
where C.A.P staff come in—this is what we have been established
to do.
More
precisely, regardless of their current situation and experience, we gear
students up so that they are A.B.L.E and have A.B.L.E empowerment:
• A-ccess to academic advising,
counseling, and tutoring that will help ensure success
by producing academically sharp independent learners.
• B-uilt up character
and individuality through CAP educational and cultural activities
for work and academic life.
• L-earned how
to integrate technology into their educational experience for
now and future endeavors in life and
work.
• E-xtra-curricular training
which creates awareness of hidden talents & interests,
ensuring development of the whole person.
In case one is unsure
of why they should entrust Myers University to enA.B.L.E. them, here
are some specific reasons why students through the years have given Myers University
the solemn opportunity to prepare them for a professional journey of success:
The application process is reasonable and well-worth-while. Consider these
