Myers Institutional Scholarships

A scholarship is a source of funding for school that does not have to be paid back. New students to Myers University (including transfer students) may request scholarship consideration by speaking to their admissions representative.

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students attending Myers University on a full-time basis who maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. The Myers University Intercollegiate Athletic Director must recommend eligible students for this award. Students must participate in Cross Country, Tennis, or Track during the 2004-2005 academic year.

DEAN'S DISCRETIONARY AWARD - (DDA)

Awarded to current year associate degree graduates from area proprietary schools. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and obtain a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or administrator. Scholarships are awarded in either a 25% or 50% reduction in the cost of tuition less financial aid. Students are responsible for their portion of tuition, books, and fees. There is a limited number of these awards each year. No one is guaranteed a TES simply by meeting the above criteria. *See note at the end of this section.

THE DECA/JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT/4-H SCHOLARSHIP
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to full-time Myers University students who have participated in either DECA, Junior Achievement, or 4-H while in high school and who maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA. Participation must be verified by a letter of support from the student’s adult organization leader or high school guidance counselor.

THE JOHN D. AND ELIZABETH G. DRINKO SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to current year high school graduates. The student must possess a GPA of 3.75 or higher and have an ACT (or SAT equivalent) score of 24 or higher. The student must also submit a letter of recommendation from a principal or counselor, submit an essay and be interviewed by the Director of Admissions. This scholarship covers the entire cost of tuition. The student is responsible for books and fees. *See note at the end of this section.

EMIL J. & ERNA L. GUIA ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to current year graduates from High School pursuing a degree in Accounting. Students are awarded up to $3000.

LAURA HERKE/MICHAEL HERZAK JR., MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to current year graduates from either Parma High School or Mayfield High School. Students are awarded up to $3000.

THE HUNTINGTON SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships of $2000 each will be awarded to Cuyahoga county resident students attending Myers University on a full-time basis and majoring in a business-related field. Incoming freshman applicants must have attained a cumulative minimum high school grade point average of 2.5. Students must also demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA. The Huntington Scholarship may be renewable based on funds availability and continuing student eligibility - maintenance of at least a 2.5 cumulative Myers GPA and financial need.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to current year high school graduates and/or transfer students. The scholarship is based on ACT/SAT scores, high school and/or, college GPA, University's Placement Test, and admissions Interview. Students are awarded up to $2000.

THE MYERS ACADEMIC GRANT
This is our only purely need-based scholarship. Applicants will be eligible for scholarship upon completion of their FAFSA. No essay is required. You must re-apply for this scholarship each year. Students are awarded up to $2000 based upon financial need.

PHI THETA KAPPA SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is open to students transferring to Myers University who participated in the Phi Theta Kappa organization while attending a participating two-year college. The student must enroll at Myers University immediately following graduation from the two-year college. Proof of membership is required. Non-U.S. citizens, part-time students and students with previous bachelor’s degrees are not eligible for this scholarship. The amount of this award is $2,500 per year.

PRESIDENT'S TUITION EQUALIZATION SCHOLARSHIP - (TES)
Awarded to current year associate degree graduates from area community colleges. Students must have a 3.0 GPA and obtain a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or administrator. This scholarship covers the difference between the current community college tuition rate and the current Myers University tuition rate less financial aid. Students are responsible for their portion of tuition, books, and fees. *See note at the end of this section.

PRINCIPAL’S SCHOLAR PROGRAM
This scholarship is designed to award one-half tuition paid scholarships to outstanding high school seniors from the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan area that wish to seek a business-related bachelor’s degree at Myers University. Students must be nominated by their high school principal. One scholarship will be awarded to each high school each year.

STUDENT ORGANIZATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Myers Student Organization Scholarship is designed to inspire Myers University students to become involved in all aspects of university life through active participation in Myers University student organizations and clubs. Scholarships are renewable each semester at the discretion of Myers University and provided the student is academically eligible and has satisfactorily participated in a sanctioned student leadership activity as determined by the Office of Student Life.

All scholarships are renewable for a total of three years as long as the recipient completes at least 24 credit hours per year and maintains the required cumulative GPA. International students are not eligible for scholarships. Please contact your admissions advisor to determine requirements and eligibility.

*Note:
Some of the institutional scholarships may have conditions that impact other aid programs or awards. For example, some partial and full-tuition institutional awards may be reduced by the amount for which a student is eligible for certain state awards (e.g. Ohio Instructional Grant, Ohio Choice Grant).
