Frequently Asked Questions

What graduate business degrees do you offer?
Myers University offers two graduate business degrees: Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Management (MMG).

Are your graduate business programs accredited?
The Myers University MBA and MMG programs are accredited by both North Central Association-Higher Learning Commission and The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.

How long does it take to earn a Myers University graduate business degree?
Each of the two programs requires the completion of 30 credit hours. By taking two classes per eight-week term students can complete the degree requirements in as few as 11 months. However, students also have the option of taking longer to complete their degrees. The program is designed to be flexible to accommodate the most demanding professional work schedules.

Is the GMAT required for admission?
No, the GMAT is not required for admission. Studies suggest that the best predictor of success in graduate business programs is undergraduate grade point average (GPA). In our admissions process, we look closely at an applicant’s undergraduate GPA as well as her/his professional work experience, another factor found to be highly correlated with performance in graduate business programs.

Is there a minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) required for admission?
Yes, the minimum undergraduate GPA is a 2.5. In addition to the applicant’s undergraduate GPA, the Graduate Business Admissions Committee carefully evaluates each applicant’s work history, level of job responsibility, accomplishments, admissions essay, and letters of recommendation to determine the applicant’s overall abilities and motivation to succeed in the graduate business program.

When are students admitted?
Students are admitted five times a year and can commence their graduate studies during Fall I, Fall II, Winter I, Winter II, or Summer.

What are the application deadlines?
A completed application, including official transcripts of all previous university work, should be received no later than two weeks before the start of the term for which you are applying. However, should you face unforeseen delays in submitting your application, you are encouraged to contact the graduate business office. Official acceptance into the master’s program requires that you submit all required documents and fulfill all other requirements for admission.

How many credits can I transfer into the graduate program?
Upon entering the program, a maximum of six (6) hours of graduate credit can be accepted into the student’s program. To be eligible for transfer course credits must: 1) have been earned at an accredited institution; 2) have been awarded a grade of B or better; 3) have been earned in the past five years; and 4) be comparable in course content to course(s) offered in the Myers graduate program.

Are applicants required to take the TOEFL?
Applicants are only required to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) if their 1) native language is not English or 2) their undergraduate degree was earned at a university where the language of instruction was not English. A TOEFL total score of 550 on the paper-based test or 213 on the computer-based test is required for admission.

Am I required to work in teams outside of class?

In the academic year 2004-2005 the tuition for each course in the graduate business program is $1,725. Total tuition for the 30 graduate credits required to complete each degree is $17,250.

What is the difference between an MBA and an MMG degree?
The curriculum of the MBA program is designed to emphasize entrepreneurship, ethics, and the ability to manage and lead modern organizations in an ever-changing environment. The coursework in the Master of Management (MMG) degree is based on the original MBA structure with modifications due to the specialized nature of the degree. The Master of Management program focuses on developing leadership, organizational development and human resources management skills rather than the traditional quantitative focus of the MBA degree.

What is the average class size?
Classes have historically ranged in size from 10 to 20 students. Class size is capped at 25 students to ensure that each student receives personalized attention and classroom and online interaction and dynamics are optimized.
