The late Charles R. McDonald, benefactor and longtime friend and trustee of the College, was a business leader who was deeply involved in promoting and improving Cleveland and its citizens.
As the owner of a
service station in the 1950s and an automotive parts distributorship
in the 1960s, McDonald went on to found McDonald Equipment Company,
a highly successful distributorship of engines and generators.
He was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young LLP in
1989 and was the winner of Crain's Cleveland Business Award for Business
Excellence in 1984.
Mr. McDonald's service to the community was equally distinguished. He was a board member of a number of community and civic organizations, including United Way Services and the Private Industry Council. He also worked tirelessly with the Greater Cleveland Growth Association and with that organization's Council of Smaller Enterprises. |
