Internet Connection

Please use a DSL or Cable Modem connection. Dial-up tend to lose connection. You can come into any university campus to take the exam, or use your local public library.

Spyware and Adware

Many times installed adware and spyware (including some toolbars) will cause you to either not get into a test using built-in pop-up blockers or cause pop-ups possibly leading to knocking you out of a test. Clean your computer of spyware and adware by clicking here.

Pop-Up Blockers and Firewalls

Pop-up blockers and personal firewalls must be turned off while taking an exam. The Google, mywebsearch, and Yahoo toolbars automatically run pop-up blockers, which may interfere with your ability to submit your exam.

Instructions on how to disable pop-up blockers can be found here or by going to the last page and clicking "Disable Pop-up Blockers" in "Computer and Software Help Topics".

Firewalls will prevent you from sending a test. You must be able to send information from your computer through your web browser when taking an online course at Chancellor University. If you have a firewall installed, please turn it off before accessing your quiz or test.

Running Multiple Programs

Please close all windows and applications before taking an exam. You need as much free memory as you can to prevent system slow-downs and crashes. Close all open browser windows, application windows, media players, games, and Instant Messengers.

History, Cookies and Temp Internet Files

Delete your cookies and Temporary Internet files before taking the quiz or exam. Clear your history, also. I suggest you run your spyware remover, also. A defrag wouldn't hurt, either.

Instructions on how to clear your history and delete temporary internet files and cookies can be found here.

Using the Back Button

Do not submit the exam and hit the back button to correct answers, then hit submit again. First, that's cheating, an error message will appear and the answers will disappear. A lock goes up on the exam. We're able to track it when this happens. It will be up to the instructor whether to unlock the exam or not.

Printing Tests

Do not attempt to print out the exam and hit save, then re-enter. Again, a lock goes up on the exam. We're able to track it when this happens. It will be up to the instructor whether to unlock the exam or not.

Timeout

Do not spend more than an hour on one page, you run the risk of timing out with your ISP. Be prepared before you take the exam. Study as if you are preparing to take a closed-book exam in a traditional classroom.

Quick Review

Try to find a DSL or Cable Modem connection. Dial-ups tend to lose the connection. You can come into any university campus to take the exam. You are welcome to make an appointment in the Downtown Campus Online Office to use a computer and take the exam. Please call 216-361-2768.

Very Important ! Again, if you have a Google, mywebsearch, or Yahoo toolbar on your browser window (located right under the Address field at the top of your browser window), that's spyware and it runs its own pop-up blocker. Turn off the pop-up blocker (Options drop down arrow) or get rid of the spyware. You don't need it.
