Disabling Pop-up Blockers
 
Most pop-up blockers are within a toolbar that has been downloaded from the internet. For example: Yahoo toolbar, AOL toolbar, mywebsearch, ect. Some toolbars are forms of tracking software known as Adware or Spyware. See the Adware and Spyware Removal page for instructions on how to remove harmful programs and files.

SBC Yahoo Pop-up Blocker
 
1. Open the SBC Yahoo! Online Protection Dashboard using either of these methods:
 
  • Double-click the desktop icon.
 
  • Right-click the Online Protection system tray icon and select SBC Yahoo!  Online Protection from the menu.
 
  • Click the Online Protection button on the toolbar of the  SBC Yahoo! Browser .
 
  • Select Programs >  SBC Yahoo!  DSL >  SBC Yahoo!  Online Protection from the Start menu.
 
2. Click on the Pop-up blocker tile.
 
3. Click the Turn Off button.
 
 
Internet Explorer for Microsof Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2):
 
Internet Explorer with Service Pack 2 for Windows XP features an Integrated pop-up blocker. By default pop-up blocking is enabled.
 
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. In Tools, highlight Pop-up blocker.
3. Click Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.
 
 
Mozilla:
 
1. Open the Edit toolbar menu and choose the Preferences option.
2. On the Right-hand column, under the privacy & Security Preferences category, click on the Popup Windows topic. You may need to double click the Privacy & Security title to expand the list.
3. You can either de-select the box next to Block unrequested popup windows to completely disable the pop-up blocking software, or add Blackboard to list of allowed sites.
4. To allow a specific site, click the Allowed Sites... button and type "http://dnmc.blackboard.com" into the text field, and then click Add. Click OK to finish.
5. To allow a site for one time go to the page you wish to view and select Tools in the toolbar, choose Popup Manager and select the Allow Popups From This Site option.
 
 
Firefox:
 
1. Go to the Tools toolbar menu and select Options....
2. Uncheck the box next to Block Popup Windows under Web Features, and click the OK button to exit Options.
 
 
 
3. You can leave the box checked to allow pop-ups, but you can also allow specific sites. In the Allowed Sites window, type "http://dnmc.blackboard.com" in the text field beneath Address of the website. Click the Allow button to the right of the text field and then click OK.
 
 
 
 
Netscape 8:
 
1.

Click the arrow next to the pop-up window icon in the SECURITY CENTER section of the Navigation Bar to drop down the options list for the popup blocker. The icon is illustrated below:

 
2. Check Disable pop-up blocker.
 
3. You can also allow a specific site by going to the desired website and clicking the pop-up window icon to open the Site Control Info window. Click OK to allow the site.
 
 
Yahoo Toolbar:
 
1. Click the pop-up blocker icon to display the settings.
2. Un-check the pop-up blocker by clicking Enable Pop-Up Blocker if it is checked.
 
 
Google Toolbar:
 
1. Click the Options button in the toolbar.
2. Uncheck the checkbox next to Popup Blocker in the Accessories section.
 
 
AOL Toolbar:
 
1. Click Settings on the AOL toolbar.
2. Click Pop-Ups in the Essentials tab.
3. In the Web Pop-Ups tab of the Pop-Up Control Settings windows, select Allow Web Pop-ups from these sites from the available options.
4. Enter "http://dnmc.blackboard.com" and click Add. Click Save.
 
 
Pop-Up Stopper:
Pop-Up Stopper is located in your Taskbar located, by default, in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
1. Right-click on the Pop-Up Stopper software icon.
2. Un-check the checkbox next to Enable pop-up blocking.
 
 
Popup Manager (IE):
 
1. Open Internet Explorer and go to "http://dnmc.blackboard.com".
2. Right-click the small colored area in the bottom left corner of your browser window. It will be either red or green, this bar is called a "widget".
3. In the drop-down menu, select the option to allow popups.
4. You can also hold the Ctrl key while clicking a link that initiates a pop-up window like the Google Toolbar.
 
 
Starware Toolbar (IE):
 
1. Open a new Internet Explorer browser window and go to "http://dnmc.blackboard.com".
 
2. Click on the Popup Blocker button in the Starware Toolbar. The image should change to "Popups allowed". The pop-up button is illustrated below:
 
3. To disable the popup blocker completely, click on the arrow next to the Starware logo on the left-hand end of the toolbar to display the main menu and select Preferences....
 
4. In the window that appears, uncheck the box next to Enable Popup Blocker. Click OK.
 
 
Norton AntiSpam and Norton Internet Security 2005 and 2006:
 
Disable Ad Blocking
1. In the main window, on the left side click Norton Antispam.
2. Click Ad Blocking > Turn Off.
Disable Pop-up Blocking
1. In the main window, on the left side click Norton AntiSpam.
2. Click Pop-up Blocking > Turn Off.
