An
initial report and any necessary follow-up investigation will be conducted in
all incidents. All reports are treated confidentially, except as necessary and
required to investigate the incident. When notified of a crime, the
investigator will work closely with the victim to resolve the problem. The
victim maintains the right to decline prosecution of the case at any time and
to choose whether to continue the case through the criminal justice system, the
campus judicial system, or both.
A general list of the types of crimes that have occurred on campus is posted on
the campus safety web pages, the campus safety bulletin board, and in the
University newspaper (The Link). If an incident is considered an immediate
threat to members of the campus community, information about the situation will
be shared through various means. These include bulletins, crime alert notices,
campus wide e-mail, campus safety web page, and the Myers University newspaper
(The Link).

Myers University aspires to transmit knowledge, to develop its students, and to
promote the quality of society. In seeking these goals, the University
recognizes the significance of student rights. Those rights include freedom of
expression, autonomy, procedural protection and the respect for personal

individual rights, the University fosters an environment conducive to the

the personal and social development of students. The Code of Student Conduct
fully respects students' rights. Judicial authority rests with the Division of
