Participation in student organizations is an effective way to develop team-building,
leadership, communication, and other business-related skills while having fun.
Employers frequently tell us that they prefer hiring students that have been
involved in extracurricular activities, because these experiences cultivate
leadership and other valued skills. For this and other reasons, the Office
of Student Life encourages every student at Myers University to actively participate
in at least one student organization.
Accounting Association (DNMCAA)
Promotes co-curricular accounting activities, sponsors seminars on various
aspects or accounting, promotes fellowship. Criteria: 2.5 GPA, interest in
Accounting.
American Marketing Association (A.M.A)
Myers University Chapter of the A.M.A attends symposiums and hosts guest speakers
at the University. Criteria: 2.5 GPA, interest in Marketing.
Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO)
Assists students in identifying small business opportunities and new ventures.
Interacting with business students from across the nation. Criteria: 2.5
GPA, interest in entrepreneurship.
Delta Honor Society
The Delta Honor Society recognizes individual’s academic achievements
and utilizes the talents of outstanding students to promote the reputation
or Myers University through personal involvement efforts with student, faculty,
staff, and the outside business community. Criteria: 3.4 GPA, 30 credit hours
at Myers. Students are invited to join once criteria are met.
Mock Trial Society
Provides students with comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the
American Legal System. Students compete with other schools on a regional
and national level. Criteria: 2.5 GPA, interest in the operation of the American
legal system.
Myers Hispanics in Action (MHIA)
Created to promote and raise awareness of the Hispanic Culture within Myers
University. Criteria: 2.5 GPA, Interest in the Hispanic Culture. (All are
welcome).
Myers Student Government
The official voice of the students to the faculty and administration. The Government
recommends students for appointments to University Standing Committees, investigates
student problems, recommends and initiates policy changes, and assists in
the coordination of the student activities. Criteria: 2.5 GPA, University
Leadership.
Myers Model United Nations
Myers Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations systems. It acts as a
forum for individual students to assume the roles of delegates from other
countries to the UN. Students debate global problems and issues from their
selected or assigned nation’s perspective at national and international
competitions. Through this role-playing, students acquire in-depth understanding
of foreign cultures, domestic and foreign policy, global issues, and the
complexities of a multinational system. Criteria: 2.5 GPA, interest in International
Affairs.
Myers Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE)
Provides students the opportunity to make a difference and develop leadership,
teamwork, and communication skills through learning, practicing, and teaching
the principals of how free markets work in the global economy. SIFE Also
offers opportunities to compete with other schools locally and internationally,
develop extensive networking within the business community and access to
SIFE’s Career Services database of top businesses locally, nationally
and internationally. Criteria: 2.5 GPA, interest entrepreneurship and the
free enterprise system.
Paralegal Association
Serves as a student support group to aid those interested in paralegal careers.
Field trips are arranged to expose students to paralegals “on-the-job” Criteria:
2.5 GPA, interest in paralegal field.
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)
The largest professional organization representing general and specialized
areas of human resource management. Affiliated with SHRM are local chapters
in major cities throughout the United States, many of which sponsor student
conferences, seminars and workshops. SHRM holds an annual national meeting
and publishes a magazine as well as various books and bulletins. Criteria:
2.5 GPA, interest in career in Human Resources.
The International Club
Provides a common meeting ground for all overseas students to discuss areas
of mutual interest and to promote an interest in international affairs Criteria:
2.5 GPA, interest meeting individuals of other cultures. (All are welcome).
The Student Voice
Myers University’s student newspaper. “Operated by the students
for the students” Criteria: 2.5 GPA, interest in Journalism or writing.
